Scottsdale historian Joan Fudala reminded the council that many of Scottsdale’s signature projects, like the Museum of the West or the Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt, were considered “big, hairy, audacious” ideas in the early stages.
There’s a lot wrong with the DDC in the form now being discussed, let alone that into which it will inevitably morph. But I’m getting really tired of hearing folks compare the DDC and whatever other hair-brained ideas to the Greenbelt.
The Greenbelt was the best of a small number of options to SOLVE A PROBLEM: Flooding. There is no “problem” with the Preserve, and certainly not one that the DDC or any other such project can “solve.”
